Media Player's adaptive bitrate streaming
Media Player's adaptive bitrate streaming
Updated this week

Today’s webinar viewers are accessing video content across more devices and connection speeds than ever before. Adaptive bitrate streaming (ABR) enables webinar.net to reach these users — no matter if they’re using mobile phones in an off-the-grid area or a 5k smart TV hooked up to Ethernet — by dynamically switching between different bandwidths.

With adaptive bitrate streaming, the audience gets the best possible experience for their circumstances. When a mobile viewer reaches a stronger signal strength, their stream will automatically adapt to deliver a higher bitrate when first logging in as an attendee.

Within the Media Play, click on the wheel icon to view or change your Adaptive bitrate streaming.

The list will include all available options. The checkmark will show which option you have selected or which option was defaulted based on your Internet bandwidth. Below, the default is set to 360p, which is also shown at the bottom of the list as "Auto (360p)" which indicates it's the best option for your bandwidth.

You may toggle up or down at anytime. And if your Internet bandwidth gets compromised at anytime, you can switch to an Audio Only option.

720p (HD 1280x720)
Video Bitrate: 1500 kbps
Audio Bitrate: 128 kbps
360p (Standard 640x360)
Video Bitrate: 750 kbps
Audio Bitrate: 128 kbps
240p (Low 426x240)
Video Bitrate: 350 kbps
Audio Bitrate: 128 kbps
Audio Only
Audio Bitrate: 128 kbps

Note. Safari (Desktop or mobile) does not provide ABR quality options. Safari does ABR automatically therefore we cannot control ABR option for Safari.
