Choosing the Right Presentation Type

Updated over a week ago

When you create a webinar, you’ll be asked to select a presentation type.
This choice determines how your presenters deliver content and how your audience experiences it.

Below is an overview of each option—Audio Only, Webcam and Audio, Media File, and RTMP Stream—including What it is and Why to choose it.

1. Audio Only

What it is
A streamlined broadcast with voice only.
Attendees hear the presenters but see no video feed in the media player.

Why choose it

  • Reduces technical complexity & increases presenter privacy.
    (no camera or video switching)

  • Lower data usage for attendees—ideal for mobile listeners or regions with limited internet speed

  • Keeps the audience focused purely on the message or conversation

2. Webcam and Audio

What it is
A live video session where presenters share their camera feed plus audio.
Slides, screen sharing, and interactive features (polls, Q&A, chat) can all be layered on.

Why choose it

  • Puts a face to your brand, with town halls or executive addresses where a human connection matters most.

  • Supports multi-presenter layouts (e.g., Scenes & Overlays)

  • Great for marketing webinars, product demos, or panel discussions.

3. Media File

What it is
For offlined video or audio file playback inside a webinar session.
Upload any MP4 (or supported format) and webinar.net streams it to the attendees.

Why choose it

  • Guarantees polished, edited presentations where live delivery isn’t necessary

  • Allows presenters to focus on moderating chat, Q&A, or polls while the video streams to attendees, or for immediate on-demand playback.

  • Flexible for global audiences across multiple time zones

4. RTMP Stream

What it is
A Real-Time Messaging Protocol (RTMP) input that lets you broadcast a live feed from professional production software (e.g., OBS, Wirecast, vMix, or a live venue encoder) directly into webinar.net.

Why choose it

  • Designed for Large-scale live events with multiple cameras and professional mixing

  • Mostly used in conferences, show floors, or live-to-air style productions

  • Ideal for webinars requiring lower-latency streaming or advanced overlays and transitions
