Ensuring Engaged Attendees: A Guide to Double Opt-In for Your Webinars

Updated over a week ago

Want to make sure every attendee in your webinar truly wants to be there? webinar.net offers a Double Opt-In feature, a powerful tool designed to confirm genuine interest and build a more engaged audience.

Double Opt-In is a simple yet effective process that adds an extra layer of confirmation for your webinar registrations. Instead of just submitting a form and being registered, attendees are asked to confirm their registration a second time via an email link.

Why use Double Opt-In?

  • Higher Quality Leads: It helps ensure that only genuinely interested individuals register, resulting in higher-quality leads and more engaged attendees during your live event.

  • Reduced Spam and Bots: It acts as a filter against fake registrations, spam, and bots, keeping your registration lists clean and accurate.

  • Accurate Reporting: Attendees won't appear in your registration report until they've completed the second opt-in, giving you a more accurate count of truly confirmed participants.

Enabling Double Opt-In for Your Webinars

  • In the Create Webinar or General Settings page of your webinar, populate the Enable Double Opt-In checkbox.

Can't find the Double Opt-In checkbox? Contact support@webinar.net and we'll help you set the feature up!

  • Once the double opt-in is enabled, the Confirm Your Registration Email will become available in the Email Notifications page.

How Double Opt-In Works

The process is straightforward for both you and your potential attendees:

  1. First Opt-In: An audience fills out and submits the registration form, and the registration completion step message appears.

  2. Confirmation Email (Second Opt-In Prompt): Immediately after submitting the form, the audience member receives a "Confirm Your Registration" email. This email is specifically designed to prompt the second step.

  3. Confirmation Click: They must then click a unique confirmation link within that email to complete their registration.

  4. Automatic Login: Once they click the confirmation link, they will be automatically logged into the webinar, and their registration will officially appear in the registration report.

IMPORTANT!

  • Before an attendee confirms registration, they will not show up in your webinar's report. This ensures your reports accurately reflect confirmed participants.

  • When an unconfirmed registrant attempts to log in, the registration completion step message will be displayed again.

  • If you enable Double Opt-In and then decide to disable it later, any registrations that were submitted but not yet confirmed while Double
Opt-In was active will remain unconfirmed. These individuals will NOT be automatically converted to confirmed registrants.
